The Iron Pirate. By Max Pemberton. (Cassell and Co.)—This is

an animated and exciting romance of the sea. Its theme is the possibilities of naval enterprise in the future. The " Iron Pirate" is an adventurer who, availing himself of all the advantages in the way of speed and strength which the skill of the shipbuilder can give, employs them to rob the ships which pass to and fro carrying treasure from one side of the Atlantic to another. And a good story it is, though it is not easy to imagine how any human being could have gone through all that the hero of the story underwent, with a good result.
