Sr. JAMES'S PALACE, Dec. 3, 1832—The King was this day pleased to confer the honour of Knighthood upon Tons CemzisELL, Esq., his Majesty's Solicitor-General.* • The Attorney and Solicitor-General, as well as the Judges, are always knighted upon their appointments. Sir Jona CAMPBELL, it appeals, underwent the ceremony about a month since ; but the delay in notifying the fact in the Gazette arose from his not having paid his fees (amounting to 108/.) until slew days since. Upon these fees, which are one of the most disgraceful sources of extortion connected with the Crown, inasmuch as they are divided among the servants of the Royal Household—the. King's coachman, the King's footmen, the King's barber, and the King's cook—literally, the coach- man, the footmen, the barber, and the cook partake of the spoiL
