Mr. Peter Ainsworth, M.P. for Bolton, has thought it necessary

to write a letter to his constituents to explain the cause of his voting against Lord Morpeth's Irish Registration Bill. He alleges as one ex- cuse, the inconsistency of Ministers, who last year opposed the principle of Lord Stanley's bill and have this year adopted it, with an addition which is contrary to the principle of the Reform Act. The Govern- ment bill, if carried into law, he says, would enable landlords to create any number of voters on their estates, mid produce a subdivision of farms injurious to the improvement of the people.
