TRADE UNIONS AND THE LAW

SIR,—In his contribution to your issue of February 21 David Watt omits mention of one political group- ing which for several years has been urging re- examination of the legal position of trade unions. In October, 1956, the 'Hastings Group' of National Liberals published Trade Unions in a Free Society, in which they advocated the appointment of a Royal Commission, More recently, possible reforms of trade union law have been actively canvassed in The New Horizon, the journal of the National Liberal Organi- sation, a copy of which is sent to all MPs.
