At a meeting of the Irish Confederates, on Wednesday, the

Reverend James Bermingham was elected a member. The meeting adopted a mock "proclamation," drawn in official style, and contradicting the actual proclamation issued by " divers persons representing the Queen in Ireland, particularly his Excellency George William Frederick Earl of Clarendon," Sm.: it pronounces that proclamation to be illegal, the Council of Three Hundred to be lawful and proper; and warns all sheriffs, constables, and other authorities, against interfering or repressing the election, at their pro- per peril. Mr. Mitchel has resigned his membership of the Confederation; a step to be explained within the week.
