The John Adams, Butler, from Bengal to London, encountered a violent hurricane on the 10th March in Lat. 12, South Long 87 East. and put back with loss of main and mizzen masts and other extensive damage. Eighty chests of Indigo were thrown over board during the gale. which lasted three days, and as she had eight feet of water in lier hold, her cargo is believed to be seriously injured.
