On the Isonzo front the Italians, on Friday week and

Saturday last, made two vigorous local attache to the north-east of Monte San Gabriele, in which they captured some mere of the high ground at the eastern edge of the Bainsizza, plateau. They took sixty-three Austrian officers and nineteen hundred stool fifty-sic men prisoners in the course of these operationa, which will help them to outflank from the north-east the Austrians who are still clinging to the slopes of San Gabriele. General Cadorna's me I have an excessively diffi- cult task in driving the enemy from this maze of rocks and caverns, but they are making the enemy pay a heavy price for his obstinacy.
