ADMIRALTY, Aug. 27.--The following promotions have this day taken place con- sequent on the death, on the 26th instant, of Rear-Admiral of the Blue Lord J. Hay, C.B.-C. R. Moorsom, Esq., Right Hon. George James Earl of Egmont, Sir G. A. Westphal, to be Rear-Admirals on the Reserved Half-pay List ; P. W. P. Wallis, Esq. to be Rear-Admiral of the Blue.

The following Captains on the Retired List have been promoted to be Retired Rear-Admirals on the terms proposed in the London Gazette of 1st Sept. 1846, but without increase of pay, viz.-Hon. J. Gordon, W. Popham, Esq., J. Hay, Esq., Sir C. T. Jones, R. R. Carre, Esq.

ADMIRALTY, Sept. 4.-Corps of Royal Marines-Capt. and Brevet Major W. L. Dawes to be Lieut.-Col. vice Coryton, to half-pay; First Lieut. and Adjt. J. W. Wearing to be Capt. vice Dawes, promoted ; Sec. Lieut. C. Jolliffe to be First Lieut. vice Wearing, promoted; Brevet Major J. A. Phillips to be Lieut.-Col. vice J. H. Stevens, retired on full-pay ; First Lieut. A. Ramsay to be Capt. vice Phillips, pro- moted; Sec. Lieut. H. L. Searle to be First Lieut. vice Ramsay, promoted.
