RIFLE CLUB SHOOTING.

[TO TUE EDITOR OP THE "SPECTAT011.1

SIR,—As the Spectator has shown so much interest in rifle clubs, I beg to send the result of some practice made by a 'chance squad of nine members of the Lyndhurst Workmen's Club, who had had no experience with a rifle except- at a twenty yards covered range, with Service rifle, but, of course, diminutive ammunition. The practice took place, at the kind invitation of Mr. R. W. Griffith, at the private open range at Eyeworth. The target was of the ordinary pattern. The day was a favourable one. It was noticeable that most of them held the rifle with the left hand much too near the breech to secure steadiness of aim. In fact, they had had no actual

tuition in rifle-shooting.—I am, Sir, &c., G. J. B.
