The Forth to Clyde Canal The Committee appointed by the

Minister of Transport to consider a Forth to Clyde Canal has reported unfavour- ably. Apparently the advocates of the canal could hold out no prospects of its paying, and as most of the Scottish witnesses were of this opinion it seems that Sir Ian Hamilton is mistaken in saying, as he did in a letter to

the Times of Monday, that the Committee's decision will act as a " corpse-reviver " upon the Scottish Nationalist
