Critical Tories

From Lieut Commander N. Paulley, RN (Retd)

Sir: Although the Tories changed their leader in February, it is clear that many Positions of power within the party remain safely in the hands of supPorters of Mr Heath. Why else has the influential Conservative National Union Executive Committee refused, for the third year running, a stand at the party's Blackpool Conference to those persistent Tory critics of Mr Heath's policies, the Selsdon Group? This decision is the more significant in that guest speakers to the Selsdon Group have included Mrs Thatcher (the Party's leader) and Lord Thorneycroft (the party's chairman).
