The Daily Dispatch, that lively organ of the industrial north,

published an important article on the new race in armaments that is beginning in the air. The writer emphasizes the futility from everyone's point of view of the new air race. All it will probably result in will be an equality between this country, France and America, arrived at after immense financial sacrifices from the peoples of each country. Why should we not do in the air what America has done for the sea? The Powers might be summoned to London as they were summoned to Washington and asked to agree to a simple scheme for equal, limited, armament. France herself might conceivably agree to this if it was made perfectly clear that unless she did so we should at once begin a building programme which would give us a larger air fleet than hers.
