The General Council of the Trades Union Congress has continued

to interest itself in the struggle in the Nottinghamshire coalfield between the remains of the old union, the body affiliated to the Miners' Federation, and the new Miners' Industrial Union formed by Mr. Spencer. The new union is now far stronger than the old one and the men are earning wages greatly in excess of those earned in many coalfields where the Federation unions make the agreements. Justly or unjustly, the men are likely to regard that as a decisive argument.
