EARLY and pregnant hour ; Hazily sunbeams lacquer The flanks of horses ploughing the Fourteen Acre ; They move in a cocoon of golden steam, The logical furrow following furled and spare.

I saw the countryman tough behind his team, And paused to stare At his long shadow in Time, his tangent power. •
