It had been generally supposed that the appointment of Sir

John Boyd Orr to the Directorship of the Food and Agricultve Organ- isation would involve his resignation of his seat as one of the Members for the Scottish Universities. The names of possible successors had indeed been freely canvassed. I gather, however, that Sir John is likely to be in Washington (the seat of the F.A.0.) less than was expected, and that he will be able to keep his place in the House of Commons after all. He unquestionably has a special contribution to make there.
