- The usual prize is offered for a Ballade (three

stanzas and an envoi) designed, sin- cerely or satirically, for the Holidays in Britain movement, with the refrain: 'Why should I want to go abroad?' Humour is expected and wit indispensable.

Entries, addressed 'Spectator Competition No. 256,' 99 Gower Street, London, W.C.1, must be received not later than January 18. Results in the Spectator of January 28.

Note : In Competition No. 255 'Eurasia (1984)' should have read 'Oceania (1984).' However, any 1984 entry with the authentic Orwell flavour will be considered.
