The appeal recently made to the public on behalf of

that valuable in- stitution, the Female School of Art in Gower Street, has already pro- duced subscriptions amounting to nearly 10001. This is very encouraging, but much yet remains to be done to save the pupils of the school from the calamity of having their studies abruptly stopped, and their prospects of honourable employment destroyed. The committee, with only half the sum in hand requisite to purchase or build suitable premises, will be forced to close the school on the 31st instant, unless contributions flow in wen more liberally than hitherto within the next two or three weeks.
