The declared value of the exports both for the month wad the feet months exceeds the value for the corresponding periods of 1855 imd 1854. For the month, tho increase over 1855 is 300,0001.; for the four months it is 7,700,000/. In the imports, it may be noticed that there is a great falling.off it the supply of food animals, as well as in the various articles (with the exception of eggs) comprised under the head of provisions. Oxen, cows, and calves, are diminished by a half; bacon, beef, and pork, have de- creased in a still greater ratio. This tends to account for the enhanced price demanded of late for butcher-meat in our own markets.
