Charing Cross Bridge Though - the full Report of the Committee

set up to advise the L.C.C. on Charing Cross Bridge is not yet available, it is clear from Sir Leslie Scott's speech on Tuesday that the majority favour a modified version of the original scheme which was rejected by the Select Comthittee. The road bridge on the site of Hungerford Bridge and the high-level station on the Lion Brewery site remain, bait a new approach is proposed which would descend-to a traffic circus at York Road, Still:Ilford Street, and would save a superfluous bridging of roads. The- Committee also appear to favour a widening of Charing Cross Road and St. Martin's Lane, though this subject was outside their terms of reference.
