THE NEW DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE.

[To THE EDITOR OP THE "SPECTATOR."1 SIR,—Being one of the eighteen surviving contributors to Dr. Smith's "Dictionary of the Bible," permit me to say that articles did appear in that work (whieh I cousider in most respects superior to Dr. Hastings's Dictionary) on euch subjects as "Baptism," dealt with by Bishop Harold Browne, and "Church," written by myself. They appeared in the appendix to the original volume, and were most of them in- corporated in their due alphabetical position in the second edition.—I am, Sir, &c.,
