But Members in close touch with Trade Unionism do not

believe that the 'bus strike foreshadows any general outbreak of industrial unrest, as has been suggested in some quarters. They point out that so far wages have kept pace with the rise in the cost of living. They argue that this indicates that employers today have a more liberal-minded view on the wage question than in the last great period of industrial upheaval. The danger they foresee is that the Trades Union leaders will be unable to prevent in all the branches the capture of the machine by a minority of Left Wing agitators.
