Sra,—The perusal of Mr. Gaitskell's proposals for incarcerating and fining his fellow-citizens seemed to recall something to my mind. . . . Of course, I had lately been reading Sydney Smith on the game laws of a century ago. Just the same sort of thing ; except that the Government spy is not a nice substitute for the Tory squire.
