Odd sentences

Sir: Charles Glass (Diary, 23 April) cor- rectly noted the unusual phenomenon of most people's likelihood of selecting an odd number less than ten, rather than an even number. However, while conducting the same experiment among several attorneys-at-law, I realised that Mr Glass's concern about convicted criminals serving an extra year was ill-founded. After all, they very well may be serving one year less than deserved.
