We have so often had occasion to blame M. Reuter,

that we are glad to record an instance in which be has done his duty. We say his "duty," because it is nonsense to talk of his monopoly as a private speculation. He published on the 5tlt inst. a cable telegram, which must have cost many hundreds of pounds, con- taining upwards of 800 words, and giving full returns of the Pre- sidential election from all States, California included, —a great triumph of enterprise. The agency will, we hope, be one day driven from the field, being far too official, but in this instance its work has been done well.
