In the series of "English Idylls" (J. M. Dent and

Co.) we have two of Jane Austen's novels, Sense and Sensibility and Mansfield Park, both delightfully illustrated in colours by Mr. C. E. Brock. No illustrator ever caught the spirit of his author more felicitously than does Mr. Brock. These short-waisted young ladies and tail- coated gentlemen are exactly the people whom we see in Miss Austen's pages. A few interesting particulars are given in the introductions. Neither of the two novels got beyond a second edition in the author's lifetime. For Sense and Sensibility Miss Austen received £150, and thought it a magnificent sum. The price of each volume is 5s. net cloth, and 8s. 6d. net vellum.
