SIR,—I read Mr Middleton's letter (September 30) to one of my so-called gangs of 'above average intelligence'-1 can't think where he was able to find these types! The comments were interesting.

(1) `Mr Middleton obviously doesn't understand us.'

(2) 'Boarding schools are good because they stop you getting bored with your parents.'

(3) `Boarding schools are good because when your parents die it is not such a shock.' I feel there is some psychology here!
