The sale of the materials of Bridgwater House commenced on Thursday ; when the building was disposed of' in lots, to builders, brokers, and others. The interior has been entirely pulled down, and only presents a heap of ruins. Sir Robert Smirke is the architect em- ployed by Lord Francis Egerton to rebuild the mansion.

The Lords of the Treasury have offered a reward of 200/. for the proposal which they may consider to be the best suited for carrying into effect the new plan of the Penny Postage, and Mi. for the next best proposal. By the death of' General Douglas Wemyss, at Upper Gore House, Kensington, on Thursday last, the Governorship of Tynemouth and Cliff Port has become vacant.
