Of the statement in the Times respecting the termination of

the Tahiti dispute with France, the Paris correspondent of the Standcwd says—" I can assure you positively that this statement is erroneous. There may be a particle of truth in it, but it is so alloyed with error as to render it worthless." The contradictor, however, seems to be a rival ; for the statement in the Times is claimed as almost a plagiarism from something in the Standard about a month ago.
