SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS.

[TO THE EDITOR OF THI"SPECTATOR."] SIR,—This question was set to a young nephew of mine at a school examination : " What do the letters R. I. P.,' often seen on tombstones, mean ? " And my nephew's answer was : "Return, if possible." A good boy that Another good boy —a cousin of mine he is—was reciting at school. There came this passage : "The flowers bow their heavy heads needing support." The ingenuous boy recited: " The flowers bow their
