WARDLE AND DAVENPORT.

The latest report of Wardle and Davenport, the manufac- turers of silk textiles, &c., shows that the profit for the past year after meeting depreciation and Debenture interest was 117,690, as compared with only 17,255 for the preriots year. A. profit of 15,095 was also obtained through sales of investments, but that amount the Board very wisely recom- mend shall be written off plant and machinery by way of additional depreciation. A dividend is now proposed on the Ordinary shares of 4 per cent. free of tax, leaving 125,911 to be carried forward. This distribution compares with 3/ per cent. a year ago.
