Under the title of the Essays, Literary and Political, of

TVil- liam E. Charming, Messrs. IlEnnEnwicK and Son of Glasgow have sent forth the lay writings of the redoubled American Doc- tor, containing his Characters of MILTON, NAPOLEON, and FENS.. LON, his Remarks on Associations, the Union, Education, Slavery, National Literature, Catholicism, and the Moral Argument against Calvinism. The papers form a small-sized but well-favoured vo- lume: and are intended for those to whom the sermons of the Doctor might, from their name, be distasteful.
