At a meeting of the Common Council, on Thursday, Mr. Ander. ton moved that 250 guineas should be subscribed to the fund for erecting a monument to Nelson in Trafalgar Square.

Deputy Corney thought that there was quite money enough at the West-end of the town to pay for the Nelson Monument ; and that as the City bad raised a monument to the hero in Guildhall, at the cost of upwards of 4,0001., be thought there was no necessity for their in. terference with the proceeding of the West-end gentlemen. He moved the previous question. Mr. King said, that whenever money was wanted, the City was the place to come to for it. The previous question was carried, by a majority of 59 to 42.
