Tory leadership

Sir: Before the last election I ventured to express the opinion in a letter which you published, that the Conservatives would not be returned to power under the leadership of Mr Edward Heath.

In view of the performance of his last Government and the many questionable decisions and actions for which they were responsible, I feel even more doubtful about the future of the Conservative Party if it is decided to re-elect him.

He may be a splendid fellow but he is not the man to lead us at the present time.

Many of my friends will never vote Conservative again while he is in command.
