Cardinal matters

Sir: In reply to Miss J. J. Empson's letter (February 1): as one who has been brought up a catholic, I find it disturbing that three Roman Catholic Bishops have attended the enthronement ceremony of the new Archbishop of Canterbury.

Have members of the church of Rome forgotten why Thomas More, John Fisher and many others were put to death?

Miss Empson really shouldn't worry too much. Their Eminences Cardinals Marty and Suevenens ('Rent a cassock') are always ready to dignify an English protestant celebration with their presence; but never an English catholic celebration.
