Electoral reform

Sir: A point perhaps not very clear from Mr Anthony Wigram's letter is that by striving to maintain the two party System, vainly hoping to absorb the Liberal vote, the Conservatives play into Labour's hands and assure it of a built-in advantage over the non-socialist majority of electors. Each Labour

government enacts a further instalment Of nationalisation which is in practice irreversible. Thus there is bound to be

cumulative erosion of the private sector SO long as the Conservatives shortsightedly deny due representation to the Liberals. Electoral reform is the only way to avoid the revolutionary usurpations of Labour governments with false majorities in Parliament.
