TheCouncils of the Metropolitan Chartist Localities met in the National

Charter Hall, in the Old Bailey, on Thursday, to revise a plan for the collection of funds for the benefit of the "political victims and of better organization." A motion was made for " class-investigators " to visit the localities once a week; but was objected to as likely to be deemed illegal ; and it was withdrawn on the understanding that a new system of "collection-books" would be a sufficient check against fraud.
