iffidartattrourt. Sir Francis Head has been recalled from the government

of Upper Canada. The Courier says that he wished to return, finding the income of the office too small for the support of a Lieutenant-1;over- nor's dignity. This is riot a very probable reason. Colonel Sir George Arthur has been appointed to succeed Sir Francis llead. We agree with the True Sun, that in the pre.ent state of Canada, it is desirable to send there men of unblemished character in an official capacity; and

there is a slur upon Colonel •hrthuria fame, which his friends have never allowed him a fair opportunity of wiping off. For some reason not avowed, both Whig and Tory Ministers have always refused a Par- linmentary inquiry into the charge against Colonel Arthur.

It is said that Lord Gosford has also been recalled.
