The Admiralty yesterday gave notice that more screw-steamers were required

to convey stores to the army in Turkey. The preference is given to screws of about 500 tons burden.

The troop-ship Charlotte, having on board 163 men and 5 officers of the Twenty-seventh Regiment, bound from Cork to Calcutta, was wrecked in Algoa Bay on the 19th September. Iler anchors parted in a gale, and she went ashore. Of the soldiers, 101, and all the officers, were saved. There were also on board 16 women and 26 children. The children were all lost, and only five of the women were saved.
