Notes and Letters on the American War. By an English Lady. (Ridgway.)—These are very sensible notes and letters by an English lady who knows something of the politics of which she is writing, and does not judge the North a priori. We can for the most part confirm by our own knowledge her answers to the ignorant prejudices of the popular Confederate party in England, who seldom take any pains to investigate the truth concerning any libel which the Southerners circu- late of the North. The pamphlet is timely, just, and well written.
