The Drury Lane Manager thought to avail himself of the

vote of the House of Commons in favour of Mr. DUNCOMBE'S motion, aud an- nounced Concerts a-la-3Itisard on the Lent nights, with the roar of the Lions and Tigers to aid the braying of trumpets and trombones. But the Home Secretary, at the bidding of his Bishop, put a veto on it ; and the poor players, having no chance of an invitation to a Prelate's table, must perforce keep Lent in Westminster. Instead of a lively ' farce on Wednesday and Friday, the public is entertained with the more solemn one of a party of Churchmen in aprons and lawn-sleeves, keep- ing Lent in the way enjoined by the Established ritual, with "a jolly full bottle" to wash down the salt fish and parsnips.
