Loyalties

Sir: Mr Enoch Powell rightly places loyalty to national and Conservative principles before blind loyalty to a leader who has done so much, and is doing more, to undermine democracy and to subjugate Britons to a bureaucracy beyond Parliament's control. He stands a giant among political pygmies.

Though largely through the apathy of so many members, Reds have secured a disproportionate number of trade union appointments, even so, at the present time there is far more danger from Teds under the beds, whose anti-British policies must hugely delight the Communists, who are so strong in Italy and France they might one day :easily form alternative governments. Meanwhile, our forced precipitation into the EEC makes it much easier for Reds to infiltrate Britain.
