This is the only election defeat we have to record.

Lord MORPETH is said to be secure of a considerable majority in the West Riding of Yorkshire; while Sir JOHN CAMPBELL has been returned for Edinburgh, Colonel LEITH HAY for Elgin, Mr. CUTLAR FERGUSSON for Kirkcudbrightshire, Mr. ROBERT STEUART for Haddington, Lord Advocate MURRAY for Leith (by a large majority), Lord Howicx for Northumberland, Sergeant PERRIN for Cashel, and Mr. O'LouGHLIN for Dungarvan.

Mr. LITTLETON has been raised to the Peerage, by the title of Baron HATHERTON ; and this will create a vacancy in South Staffordshire, to supply which, Colonel ANSON is a candidate on the Liberal, and Sir F. H. GOODRICKE on the Tory side. Sir JOHN BYNG has been made Lord STR AFFORD of Ihrmondsworth; and of course gives up his scat for Poole.
