Captain Back reached town this morning from his Northern expedition.

His vessel wits locked up in the ice from A egust 183u to August 1837. Three of the men perished from cold.

We regret to bear that Mr. Challes Knight, the publisher, of Ludgate Hill, has met with a serious accident at Bruges. I4e was bitten in the calf of the leg so severely by a dog, as to leave it doubtful whether it will not be necessary to resort to amputation in order to preserve his life.— Globe.
