of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—I was surprised to find no reference in Mr. Curnock's article to the fact that the story of Martin Guerre forms the theme of one of Alexandre Dumas' romances.

A translation was published in Messrs. Methuen's sixpenny edition of the elder Dumas' novels, nearly twenty years ago. Would that that famous series were reprinted for the present
