At a meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party on Tuesday
Mr. MacDonald was re-elected unopposed as Chairman of the Party and Mr. J. R. Clynes as Deputy- Chairman. The day before the meeting a careful state- ment had been issued about Mr. MacDonald's health. It was pointed out that there had been many rumours that Mr. MacDonald might soon resign the leadership on his doctor's advice. The truth was that Mr. MacDonald was not contemplating resignation, for which there was no sufficient cause.
