A FORTNIGHT AGO 1 quoted with some opprobium a remark

Lord Douro was reported by the Evening Standard to have made about a party he gave at Apsley House. I have before commented upon the astonishing inaccuracy of that news- paper's 'Night Reporting Corps' but I thought that on this occasion their accuracy could be relied upon. 1 was quite wrong. Lord Douro did not make the remark in question, and I much regret having given currency to the canard.
