Accompanying this intimation the Society sent out some interesting comments

on the influences which have inspired their present policy, and among other things the directors explain that, owing to the cheapness of money, resources which would ordinarily have been employed on deposit at banks, in trade and industry, and on the Stock Exchange have, owing to the abnormal conditions, sought refuge elsewhere. * * * *
