Sir: Mr Simpson (Letters, 29 November 1969) provided me with an interesting half- hour experimenting with Richard Willson's caricature of the Queen (15 November 1969), trying, without success, to discern the `evil' expression, to which he took such unreasonable exception.
Now Mr Simpson is offended over the pic- ture of General Ojukwu (Letters, 3 January). 'I have lived among these people.' he com- plains, and 'this is not like the SPECTATOR' he adds, rather as a certain type of humourless, pompous champion of the old Empire might insist that such pillorying of world figures is 'un-British'. Ridiculous!
May I say all power to Richard Willson's elbow, and offer my thanks for brightening the SPECTATOR cover?
