A patent slip
Sir: In his contribution on British Rail and London Underground's obsession with ter- razzo (Arts, 3 July) Christopher Howse cites the illustration of Kennington station in the booklet Making Vision into Reality and the flagstones that are the platform surfaces. What should be added is that those flagstones were supplied by the Patent Non-Slip Flooring Company, thus proving his point.
Incidentally, the drab scheme of decora- tion at the station (red, yellow and green Rastafarian colours) was once described to me by an Underground worker as 'ethnic'.
