'THE LITERARY DIFFICULTIES OF THE TORIES.
[TO THE EDITOR Or THE " SPECTATOR:)
Le,—Will the writer of the article on "The Literary Difficul- ties of Tories" tell us where "the authors of the Church 'Catechism" "make much of the virtue of content," meaning, probably, by "content," resignation ? I know of none, and shall be curious to learn what he is referring to. I have, so far, supposed that the true Liberal's motto," Onward and upward," could rightly be claimed by an English Churchman. If I am told the Catechism says "No" to this, it will be indeed a case of "an old friend with a new face." Absit omen !—I am, Sir, L. T. RENDELL. IThurely the Catechism preaches reverence to betters, content th your condition, and so on.—En. Spectator.]
